Hello to the new & returning volunteers:

We are currently planning our 3rd Nouveaux Regards Film Festival, and if you want to join the team as a volunteer, you are more than welcome!


Volunteers are essential to our festival. In 2018, we recruited about 30 volunteers in diverse departments. This year again, we are seeking people to be ushers, production assistants, public relations assistants, videographers...

Available volunteer positions:


Ushers are the largest group of volunteers at the festival. As an usher, you will be the face of the festival to our guests and to the audience. Ushers will get to experience the festival at the ground level by interacting with our staff, guests and attendees face-to-face on a daily basis. Smiling faces are always appreciated! Duties include ushering for film screenings and events, distributing and collecting audience surveys and audience awards ballots, answering general questions from the public, hold post-screenings Q&A sessions with the guests.

French/English bilingual is compulsory for the ushers doing Q&A!

Box Office / Public Relations

Box Office and PR volunteers support the Venue Manager and Public Relations Coordinator. They help answer general audience questions about how to attend screenings and events. Strong communication skills and a helpful attitude are essential for this position. Experience with customer service is a plus. Responsibilities include: ticket sales, managing will-call lists, merchandise sales, answering phone calls, greeting special audiences (associations, groups...) This person should be knowledgeable of festival operations, events and staff, and be able to answer questions about festival activities. French/English bilingual a plus.

Production Assistant

Production Assistants are key to helping make the festival happen. Individuals should have excellent communication and organizational skills, thrive in a rigorous, high-energy, deadline-intensive work environment, work well under stress, follow direction well, and be able to problem-solve on the fly. Duties include event production and set-up, driving, customer service and other responsibilities as assigned. Reliable transportation required.


The event Videographer will video tape key events during the festival. They must be able to take direction while exercising creativity to capture the feel of each event. Prompt uploading of original festival footage to our festival Dropbox account is required by the end of the festival.

REQUIREMENTS: At least one year of experience in video production (shooting, interviewing), access to own professional grade video camera, and ability to upload video clips promptly by the end of the festival is a must. Submitting a work sample is a plus.
